Cabana Winery is a boutique winery in Lodi focused on exceptional wines, hands-on production, and decades of winemaking expertise. Founded by winemaker Robert Smerling, the winery makes every wine on-site, using small-batch fermentation and French oak barrel aging to produce distinctive, award-winning wines.

Located in one of America’s oldest grape-growing regions, Cabana Winery welcomes visitors for tastings of 18 handcrafted wines made from grapes sourced from premier vineyards in Lodi, Napa Valley, Sonoma County, and Amador County. Guests may choose a tasting flight or enjoy a glass of their preferred varietal while experiencing the care and craftsmanship in each pour.

The Cabana Story

After founding Renwood Winery and spending nearly two decades making acclaimed wines, Robert Smerling and his family began a new venture centered on boutique production and full control over the winemaking process. Cabana Winery was established in 2011 as an urban winery in Sacramento, then moved to Lodi to increase production and build a stronger connection with California wine country.

The Cabana name comes from the family’s association between winemaking and a day at the beach, reflecting Robert’s New England roots and the importance of memorable beach days. Relaxation, enjoyment, and connection remain central to the Cabana wine experience.
