The Spenker family has farmed in the region since 1902, and the estate sits on Lodi's west side within the renowned Mokelumne River AVA. It is known for exceptional estate-grown Zinfandel and for its commitment to sustainable farming.

Ancient riverbed soils created the vineyard’s deep, sandy loam. Warm Central Valley days and the cooling Delta Breeze add to the conditions that support premium wine grape production. Since its launch in 2006, Spenker has been Certified Green through the Lodi Rules for Sustainable Winegrowing program, demonstrating the family’s care for the land, wildlife, community, and future generations.

Chuck and Bettyann Spenker established a commercial winery in 1994 to share the quality of their estate-grown fruit. National attention followed: the 1995 Spenker Zinfandel was the first Lodi wine to receive a 90-point rating from Wine Spectator. That recognition helped highlight Lodi as a premier wine destination.

The Spenker family has also partnered with other local wineries on collaborative events, wine trails, and educational programs. Together, these efforts have contributed to the growth of Lodi’s wine tourism industry.

The tasting room now pours a range of wines, but Zinfandel remains central to the winery’s identity. It was the varietal that began the story and continues to define the estate.
