Wines Made with Care and Tradition

Winemaker Kathy Stonum draws inspiration from the historic wineries of Europe: begin with exceptional grapes, treat them thoughtfully, and let the identity of each vineyard come through. Mike and Kathy Stonum produce artisan wines from their estate fruit as well as carefully chosen single vineyards they know and trust.

Their production philosophy includes:

The resulting wines are balanced and expressive, capturing the character of Lodi and the places beyond it.

Sustainable Farming at the Center

Stonum Vineyards places sustainability at the core of its work. The estate follows Lodi Rules Certified Sustainable principles, combining environmental stewardship with social responsibility and long-term agricultural viability.

The vineyard team uses practices designed to support healthy vines and outstanding fruit:

Fruit purchased from other Lodi vineyards must also be Certified Sustainable and satisfy the winery’s high quality standards. Each single-vineyard wine gives recognition to the grower responsible for the fruit.

A Welcoming Setting for Tastings

Guests can enjoy several relaxed and scenic areas at the winery:

Stonum Vineyards is family-friendly, pet-friendly, and smoke-free. The property welcomes wine tastings, gatherings, and special occasions in an inviting setting.

The Stonum Family Story

The family’s Lodi history started in 1979, when they acquired 17 acres of farmland. Over time, they replaced cherry orchards and Tokay grapes with Zinfandel vineyards, added sustainable irrigation systems, enhanced the soil, and restored the original farmhouse and grounds.

Mike and Kathy Stonum began making handcrafted wine from the estate vineyards in 2006. Their first Estate Zinfandel came out in 2009. Production later grew to include Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and other small-lot wines.

The Tasting Barn welcomed visitors in 2018. In 2020, the winery launched the KMS Collection, a selection from sustainably farmed Lodi vineyards and single-vineyard sites. The collection includes Rosé of Carignan, Old Vine Carignan, Petite Sirah, Malbec, and Cabernet Sauvignon. The property also gained beautiful outdoor areas created for events and weddings.

For travelers visiting Lodi wine country or seeking handcrafted wines made through sustainable practices, Stonum Vineyards offers an authentic tasting experience shaped by family heritage, considered farming, and a passion for exceptional winemaking.
